The JP Taravella Theatre department provides students with a well rounded theatre education sufficient for those pursuing careers in theatre as well as those who enjoy the arts.  The program instills 21st Century work related skills such as leadership, responsibility, teamwork and time management, while building self-esteem.  We offer  a variety of  classes in acting, musical theatre, technical theatre and costume design and makeup.   The Drama club is one of the hardest working and busiest clubs on campus.  We regularly perform musicals and plays and participate in community events.  We are proud to participate in South Florida Cappies, a critics and awards program for high school students where students attend and review productions at other high schools and celebrate at a “Tony-Award Style” Gala at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.  We are also an active part of Florida State Thespians, a division of the International Thespian Honor Society and participate in District and State Thespian Festivals.  J.P. Taravella Theatre students have travelled to local productions as well as Walt Disney World, New York  City and London to further their theatrical studies.  The theatre department is under the direction of Mrs. Lori Sessions.
