So, why should I join drama club?

Where to begin!
Whether you want to pursue theatre as a career or not, there are still many, MANY advantages for joining Drama Club!

As a drama student, you learn responsibility, time management, cooperation, life skills, perseverance, and gain self-confidence, whether through performing or honing your technical skills.  You learn to appreciate all the different aspects of putting on a full-scale production, as well as the value of hard work.

As a performer, you are able to learn how to audition properly, act- whether through being a part of our plays and musicals, or competing at Districts-, improv, work with fellow actors and technicians, find material, sing in an ensemble, learn a few dance moves, and earn tips for making it in college and the professional world.

We have many opportunities for actors to audition and perform.  Our shows to audition for include the Dinner Theatre, Straight Play, Musical, Musical Revue, and one act which we take to One Act Competition each January.  In order to be in the musical and musical revue, you must first audition and make AMT (American Musical Theatre), but there are still a variety of other ways to get involved even if you don't make it! (see below).

Even if acting isn't your thing, there are still a myriad of opportunities to get involved.  As a technician (or "techie"), you can choose from:

Lights: Light Designer, Light Board Operator, Light Crew
is responsible for hanging and focusing lights, creating a light plot based on the script and blocking, and programming light cues.

Sound: Sound Designer, Sound Board Operator, Sound Crew
is responsible for creating a sound plot and effects, setting up sound equipment, troubleshooting, and working the soundboard.

Stage: Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Stage Crew
is responsible for building most of the set pieces, bringing them on and off stage, and organizing the entire backstage area.

Props: Prop Master, Props Crew
is responsible for making and finding all the props needed for the production, setting them onstage, and giving them to the actors.

Costumes: Costumes Mistress/Master, Costumes Crew
is responsible for making or finding all the costumes that aren't rented, organizing the dressing room, helping with quick changes, and repairing ripped costumes.

Makeup: Makeup Designer, Makeup Crew

is responsible for thinking up what type of makeup to put on the different characters, helping the actors' with their makeup, and the occasional wig.

Front of House: Box Office, Ushers
is responsible for selling tickets one hour before the show, helping people find their way to their seats, and distributing programs

As you can see, no matter what your interest lies in, you're always sure to find your place in Drama Club!
